The results of a facelift are like "turning back the clock”. Although the patient will continue to age, he or she will look years younger.
As we age, we lose skin elasticity and firmness and gain sagging tissue and wrinkles. Sometimes these effects of aging can make us look older and less vital than we really feel. This can affect how we feel about ourselves and how others may see us.
Although the tissues underneath our face elongate and drag down the skin of the face and neck as we age, the modern facelift addresses this problem by tightening the tissues, along with the skin, so the underlying "foundation" is lifted. This results in a much more natural look which lasts longer than the old "skin tightening" method.
The procedure is done under local anesthesia with sedation; it typically takes about three hours. Facelift sutures are removed after one week.
